FRIDAY FAVE! Charlotte Tilbury Carina's Star lipstick

Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips 2 Lipstick Shade "Carina's Star"!

I have worn this lipstick for at least a couple of years now, this is my favourite coral colour and definitely my go-to shade!

It is a great summer lip colour being a peachy coral shade.  It has a modern matte finish so never feels drying or heavy.  It is moisturising and hydrating whilst be long wearing and also comes in a refillable tube.

This gorgeous coral would suit so many different skin tones as it is such a wearable shade.

The lipstick itself is homage to Carina Lau and comes in a beautiful lipstick case.

MY PRO TIP!

Apply on top of 'Iconic nude' lip pencil and pat the colour with your fingertips to soften the shade after application. Going out and want it more glam simply add gloss on top and pair with 'Pillow talk Original' lip liner.

RRP. £32.00 (Refill £22.00)

FRIDAY FAVE! d'Alba Piedmont FIRST SPRAY SERUM

Oh my! I am so happy to tell you about this one, that is, if you haven't heard already about this TikTok viral trending Korean white truffle serum spray!

I brought one for myself to try because lets face it everything that goes into my pro' makeup kit gets thoroughly tested on my face first and if it doesn't live up to my high standards it just does not make the grade!

Well let me tell you I absolutely love this product and I am literally spraying it on my face all day, so yes I have already purchased another one for my pro' kit.

This has become so popular for achieving that ultra-glowy glass-like skin effect.

It can be used before makeup, during makeup, after makeup and throughout the day for refreshing makeup. In my pro' kit I use it on clients before moisturiser to add hydration and glow, also during makeup layers to melt makeup into the skin and after makeup to take away a powdery finish.

It is great for mature skin, dry/dehydrated skin, makeup prep, glowy makeup and reviving makeup!

Skin will look and feel super hydrated and radiant. The glow is instant, the mist is super fine and the smell is like stepping into a spa!

A  blend of oils including avocado and sunflower, hydrating serum ingredients, niacin amide, vitamin E and white truffle extract.

This is a dual-action formula so shake the bottle to mix the liquid before spraying and spray from a distance (10-20cm away) to avoid overloading the skin with too much product especially around the eyes and mouth.  Spray 3-5 times to mix the layers!

Ultimately if you want to achieve a glowy, dewy, youthful and refreshed look this is the product for you.

Vegan & suitable for sensitive skin.

PRO TIP!

Spray onto a mini sponge before blending out makeup especially around the eyes and laughter lines.

Let me just leave this here.... you NEED this in your life....

Definitely a "Friday Fave!"

FRIDAY FAVE! Schwarzkopf got2b glued wax stick

I have long been a fan of the "Cult favourite" Got2b blasting freeze hairspray (if you haven't tried it you really must!) and I am now loving this chunky wax stick. This is a new firm favourite in my pro' hairdressing kit as well as my bathroom cabinet!

Simply twist and apply directly to hair.  Style your hair in your chosen up-do, from buns to ponytails and apply the wax stick onto your hair to sleekly set your style in place or simply and easily use it to tame frizz and flyaway hairs.

I like to wear my hair up in a high bun on hot sunny days and I can honestly say this has been game changing for keeping my hair sleek and well set all day, before I would get bits falling out all over the place - very annoying!

Pro Tip: Apply the stick to your finger tips, pat and gently rub together and smooth over any flyaways or the ends of your hair for a smooth polished finish.

There is no greasy or crunchy hair with this and the styling lasts up to 24 hours.

Contains a blend of nourishing coconut oil, castor oil and shea butter.

Vegan, silicone-free formula.

"Absolutely a firm Friday Fave!"

FRIDAY FAVE! No.7 Pro Artist Moisture Muse Lipstick in shade 'Rose Couture'.

No.7 Pro Artist Moisture Muse Lipstick in shade 'Rose Couture'.

Wow! I am seriously impressed with this sheer lip colour, this is a definite "Friday Fave"!

It is the perfect colour for anyone who doesn't like wearing lipstick or doesn't know which shade to choose. A little rosier than your natural lip colour (cool rose) it really enhances your lips whilst not feeling heavy or uncomfortable to wear. It feels very nourishing and hydrating and adds a hint of colour and shine without being sticky like a lip gloss.  I love to keep it in my pocket and re-apply throughout the day.

Do not get me started on the gorgeous packaging! I am absolutely in love with the slim-line casing and the glorious click as you pop the lid back on to it.

If like me you always wear a lip liner pencil which I do recommend to define and make the most of your lips Charlotte Tilbury 'Pillow Talk' pairs perfectly with this shade.

This particular shade is my current staple and will definitely be a firm favourite in my pro' kit too.

PRO TIP!Apply a lip pencil all over the lips lightly first then apply a generous two or three coats of the lip colour for extra staying power.

RRP £14.95

FRIDAY FAVE! Lisa Eldridge Luxuriously Lucent Palazzo Lip colour

This lipstick has a truly modern luxurious feel.

The packaging is divine, the texture gorgeous and the colour glides on like silk.

It feels balmy and creamy at the same time and is extremely comfortable to wear.

I like the sheer to semi-sheer finish of this lipstick as I find a matte or semi-matte red is too strong for me.

Shade 'Palazzo', a deep neutral red.

I highly recommend visiting the counter and having a play in Liberty's.

When two people comment on your lip colour in one day you know you are on to a firm favourite!

Definitely a "Friday Fave" and a new staple in my pro-kit and personal makeup bag!

Pro Tip! I like to apply a paler lip pencil first so that the colour doesn't become too red on me. I then apply one coat, blot and apply a second coat.

RRP. £27.00

JANUARY UPDATE!

Bit of blue start to the year for me I spent the first week pretty ill on the sofa doing what work I felt up to with a throat virus that started on new years Eve, so New year goals and resolutions were not really even considered this year it was just back to it! I had a lovely relaxing Christmas break though which was much needed.

I have now set dates for 2025 Makeup workshops as I had quite a few of you asking about dates.  These are advertised on my website www.nikimakeup.co.uk and my social media @nikimakeup. Makeup workshops are held in small groups of up to six at my home studio in Harpenden. They are a fun way to learn a natural makeup look and tweaks to make it more evening/glam in a relaxed, friendly environment. Nibbles drinks and fizz are included and a gift before you leave.  All makeup and tools are also provided and I offer lots of my pro' tips and advice throughout the two hour session.  Spaces are limited so do book in advance a £20.00 booking fee is required, the balance of £30.00 is due one week before.

Email nikimakeup@aol.com to reserve a space or two!

I have been keeping busy with 1:1 Makeup lessons, pre-wedding trials and a couple of shoots as well.

I also had my first wedding of 2025 at Tewinbury Bury Farm https://www.tewinbury.co.uk, one of my favourite local venues.  It was a freezing cold day at the beginning of January but it looked picture perfect!

I have spent a lot of time hibernating in the warm with my new pup, watching tv and eating! We enjoyed The Avicii - I'm Tim and Helmut Newton The Bad & the Beautiful documentaries on Apple TV.  The return of Dragons Den is always a must watch for me, I am just waiting for the return of The Apprentice now! January is not the month for me in fact neither is February ...note to self book a Carribean holiday for January 2026!  Anyone who knows me knows I hate winter with all my being, I belong in a warm sunny place...thanks Spain for making it harder and harder for us Brits to live there! Roll on Spring and please let us have a great summer this year after last years non-existent one and a freezing winter I think we definitely deserve it! Anyway moan over!  I am looking forward to two lovely weddings in February back at Tewinbury farm for one and at beautiful Huntsmill farm https://huntsmillweddings.co.uk for the other.  Its also my husbands birthday so we are looking forward to celebrating!

DECEMBER UPDATE!

Wow how fast did December go! I was actually quiet with bookings in October and most of November but boy did it go crazy form the end of November! I have been kept so busy which I wasn't totally prepared for (a lot of last minute bookings!).  It was definitely my busiest December on record this year which is great and it makes me so happy doing what I love, so thank you so much to every single client old and new who booked me for their glam!

It has however meant that a lot of Christmas stuff was very last minute this year not like me at all but somewhat fun doing it late when it definitely feels more Christmasy! I hadn't planned on icing my Christmas cake a few days before Christmas but hey ho!  I also hadn't planned on sitting here crazily trying to get all my admin done the day before Christmas Eve I am usually on Christmas break by now with everything organised ready to start a fresh in January.  Hopefully I can finish everything today eek! including a food shop tonight and making a Christmas crunch chocolate pudding this evening! Christmas mode starts tomorrow...Christmas Eve!

Back in November when quieter I designed and printed some Christmas bauble cards which I really enjoyed doing so will definitely do more next year and also up my painting and drawing time.

I had two lovely weddings this month one on the weekend of the storm at  https://www.offleyplace.com where I am a recommend supplier.  I usually love working in the wonderful Roseview bridal prep suite but it was a very blustery and cold bridal prep' situation that day... but all went well which is the main thing, I was having visions of power cuts and all sorts... phew!

My last wedding of 2024 was on Saturday 21st and what a stunning bride she was, with the ceremony at the beautiful St Albans Cathedral and reception at https://stmichaelsmanor.com which is one of my favourite local venues where I am also a recommended suppler.

It has also been lovely starting to meet some of my 2025 Brides for their pre-wedding trials ahead of Spring weddings.

There was a definite part-up part-down theme with Christmas Party hair this year, always popular and definitely one of my favourites to style!

I also had a client with Hollywood style Breakfast at Tiffany's Hairstyling and makeup which was so fun to do!

It has been lovely spending extra time with my puppy getting him all excited for his first Christmas and he  graduated puppy school training at the weekend so he is a very happy Chappy! We also discovered since it's got colder that he loves the fire he has definitely found his favourite spot.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year and thank you so much for reading my blog!

Niki (and Rufus!)
