FRIDAY FAVE! Schwarzkopf got2b glued wax stick

I have long been a fan of the "Cult favourite" Got2b blasting freeze hairspray (if you haven't tried it you really must!) and I am now loving this chunky wax stick. This is a new firm favourite in my pro' hairdressing kit as well as my bathroom cabinet!

Simply twist and apply directly to hair.  Style your hair in your chosen up-do, from buns to ponytails and apply the wax stick onto your hair to sleekly set your style in place or simply and easily use it to tame frizz and flyaway hairs. 

I like to wear my hair up in a high bun on hot sunny days and I can honestly say this has been game changing for keeping my hair sleek and well set all day, before I would get bits falling out all over the place - very annoying!

Pro Tip: Apply the stick to your finger tips, pat and gently rub together and smooth over any flyaways or the ends of your hair for a smooth polished finish.

FEBRUARY UPDATE!

I started off the month with a trip to the beautiful Lake District for my husband's birthday.  I cannot believe I haven't visited sooner, it certainly captured a piece of my heart and we will definitely return. 

We stayed at The LowWood Bay hotel https://englishlakes.co.uk which was perfectly located, had a wonderful spa and bar (the essentials!) and was dog friendly to boot. Our eight month old puppy enjoyed it as much as we did!

In other news I am starting a beginners photography class tonight, I am looking forward to learning a new creative skill and actually using my DSLR camera that usually just sits redundant.

I am so looking forward to the brighter days hopefully... Spring is in the air at last... the daffodils have been popping up this week and I can't wait to see them bloom.

I seriously love this brow defining pen for my fair eyebrows to add natural shape and definition. 

It gives an instant brow lifting effect with easy to draw on fine stokes of colour to mimic real eyebrow hair.  It looks very natural once applied and lasts all day, I recommend this product.

Sadly I cannot use this in my professional kit as I cannot use the felt pen on multiple clients but I definitely recommend it if you are looking for a natural and easy way to fill in and define your eyebrows.

FRIDAY FAVE! Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Fair Lipstick

I confess I brought this colour to add to my pro' kit but I absolutely love it and haven't stopped wearing it in the last two weeks I have had it, so I will have to order another for my kit as this one is staying firmly in my handbag!

Pillow Talk Fair is cool toned pink with a satin finish, the perfect shade for fair skin tones. It reminds me a lot of MAC Faux for any MAC lovers out there, which has always been a personal favourite of mine as it is the only lipstick I have ever worn that my husband said he liked! 

I like to apply the original 'pillow talk' lip cheat pencil to define lips prior to applying this colour as I find it gives a little more definition on the lip shape, but it obviously pairs perfectly with lip cheat liner 'pillow talk fair' as well.

Friday Fave! Charlotte Tilbury Unisex Healthy Glow

This tinted moisturiser is a personal favourite of mine, a firm staple in my personal make-up bag.

It is super hydrating and moisturising and gives a lovely natural tinted glow to the skin.

I honesty instantly feel more awake and my skin looks and feels so much better once I have this on!

I apply this after my normal moisturiser has settled, you can apply foundation and or concealer on top.

It is easy to apply, squeeze a a small pea sized amount from the tube and apply to the whole face using fingertips to warm and blend the product into the skin.

Containing tanning pigments it cleverly morphs to your own skin tone for a flawless natural finish.

January Update!

January started with a nice warm break in Gran Canaria 23 Degrees of Bliss, then I retuned to minus three and bitterly cold.... I hate winter....roll on Spring!

January has seen lots of 1:1 makeup lessons and workshops at my Harpenden studio as well as bridal trials ahead of spring weddings.  I have so enjoyed meeting and chatting all things weddings to my lovely 2024 brides!  I have met some truly lovely ladies this month, it has been a real pleasure and I am very grateful to do a job that I love.

I have also taken some time out for my wellbeing by starting the year at a much slower pace as I do tend to rush around trying to do too much and then feel complete overwhelm and eventually exhaustion. I have taken time to do ignite my creativity doing some online training and reading about hair and makeup, mindset and photography all to continually develop my skills and better the service I provide to my clients. 

I am running makeup workshops throughout the year.  These are held in small groups of up to five at my home studio in Harpenden, Herts. Workshops include all makeup and tools, face chart to make notes, fizz and nibbles and a goody bag.  You will learn a natural day makeup and then how to turn it into evening makeup. I will be hands on throughout sharing my pro tips and personalised advice.  The workshops are two hours long and £50.00 per person, a booking fee of £25.00 is required to secure a space.

September/October Update!

Well I noticed mid-way through October that I hadn't written my usual monthly blog update! 

I was obviously having too much fun or working too hard or a mixture of both! I did get away at the end of September to sunny Spain so maybe that is why, anyway I thought I would combine them together into one update. 

These have actually been slightly quieter months for me after a busy spring/summer although I always manage to occupy my time it seems there are never enough hours in the day lately and life speeds on quicker every day (does anyone else find that?).  I am actively trying to slow myself down and focus on one thing at a time to avoid getting stressed and overwhelmed... easier said than done and some days better than others!

We have just booked a week's winter sun though so I have that to look forward to, anyone else need something to get them through the winter months?  Christmas is fast approaching although it will be a lovely relaxed one at home for us this year so I am looking forward to the restful recharge!  I will be making a Christmas cake in the next week or so and feeding my Christmas pud!

November is a generally quieter month on my calendar although I do have makeup workshops and lessons taking place and pre-wedding trials ahead of those lovely Spring weddings! A few party makeup's coming up nearer to December as well. I'll also be getting a lot of work admin' tidied up ready for a fresh start in the New year and prepping for Christmas festivities.
