Bridal Make-up for Kym.

On April 25th I was lucky enough to do wedding make-up for beautiful Kim, her two lovely bridesmaid's and adorable flower girl at Tewinbury Farm Hotel.
For Kim's bridal make-up we created an effortlessly natural look in keeping with her relaxed and informal wedding style. To achieve this look I used a lightweight foundation form Kiko cosmetics, Bobbi Brown concealer, MAC eyeshadows in neutral shades, Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner in black, Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow, MAC lipliner in Subculture and MAC Brave lipstick. To complete the look I applied some individual natural eyelashes from Ardell.

Kim was really fun to work with and I was so pleased to be a part of her special day.

Kim's testimonial...
"Niki is wonderful, so lovely, warming and welcoming. The trial at her home set the tone for the make up look I wanted on the day, and she altered things as I wanted because what I initially thought would suit me really didn't. So accomodating and helpful with tips on what to buy / use before the big day. I have never looked so flawless in my life and I have acne scarring and pigmentation. This woman is a genius. Also my bridesmaids, who both hated the thought of having their faces touched and done up by someone else, were both at ease with your calming presence and absolutely loved their make up. My sister never wears makeup and finds it hard to pick anything due to her red hair and fair skin but you matched her perfectly on the day without even needing a trial, she said she's never felt so pretty!!!

I just personally wanted to say a massive thank you for doing my makeup on our wedding day. Your calming presence in the morning was just what I needed and your advice in between my trial and the big day was so appreciated! I cannot praise the end results enough, you made me feel so beautiful but still like myself. I still looked fresh after a night of partying with the band and being spun around within an inch of my life on our finale song… and not a single eyelash fell off!"

April Update!

This month....

Our Kitchen/Bathroom extension has finally begun!

Definitely no going back.

Wedding season officially kicked off for the summer and the weather warmed up too : )

Bridal hair and make-up for Anna at St. Michaels Manor, St Albans.

Cutest wedding manicure for the little bridesmaids at Emily's wedding in Flamstead.

Sunny and warm walks at last!

Just a few bridal trials below and I had some fun shoots at Hotel chocolate HQ and on a farm with no electricity for hair appliances and I had to do make-up sitting in the boot of my car in a field. It's not all glamour in this job!

A wedding at The Grove, Hertfordshire

Pauline recently had an intimate wedding at The Grove Hotel in Hertfordshire.

Her photographer Lucy J Toms at http://www.lucyj.net/contact.html captured the day beautifully.

I did bridal make-up for Pauline, her daughter and daughter- in-Law.

Here is what Pauline had to say...

"As an older bride (age 60), I was overjoyed by the make-up that Niki provided on my wedding day. It is no exaggeration to say that I felt transformed. Niki gave me a trial session that enabled me to explain how I thought I wanted my make-up to look and then she used her specialist knowledge, skills and experience to translate my ideas into something very very special. My make-up was perfect and lasted the whole day and evening. More than this, Niki also provided the make-up for my grown up daughter and daughter-in-law and they were equally delighted. Niki’s ability to work with a range of age groups and skin types/colourings and to put us all at our ease was the perfect start to a perfect day. Niki’s professional and easy-going approach relaxed us all and her prices did not break the bank! I would highly recommend Niki for any ‘special day’ event."

January Update!

January is always a horribly depressing month the Christmas fun is all over and the weather is bleak!
I am seriously over the amount of rain we have had this year too and so not enjoying dog walks either in the rain or trying to avoid it!

I have spent most of January testing creatively and updating my portfolio.  This has also been a busy period of organizing most of this years brides, 2014 looks like a busy one for weddings!

I am thrilled to be the new recommended supplier for Make-up artistry at St .Michaels Manor, St.Albans.

Pinterest has also helped to lift my spirits this month, I love pinning everyday my favorite things to keep motivated.

News!

I am thrilled to announce I am the new recommended supplier for make-up artistry at St. Michael's Manor Hotel in St.Albans.

Here is a recent St Michael's Manor Hotel Bride Gill Webb on her wedding day 26th September 2013.

Here is what Gill had to say:
"Having tried two previous make up artists I really wasn't happy with the end result. I either looked too made up or just too old! Anyway, I found Niki online and visited her at home for a make up trial. She just totally got it! Colours, the look, everything! She's also a really lovely person! On the day of my wedding (26th Sept 2013) she was calm, totally professional and just went to work on me! My make up was absolutely perfect! It is such an important part of you to get right, for photographs if nothing else! I felt just amazing. Thank you Niki! If you do nothing else, have Niki do your make up!!x."

September Update!

September has gone by in a flash and the end of the summer has definitely arrived!
With this in mind I escaped to Spain for some sun and sangria with my family for a week which was so relaxing and 28 degrees of sunshine and blue skies every day. Returning to the grey clouds is not at all fun so I am currently plotting my next trip away!

September also saw my birthday so I visited St Michaels Manor in St Albans (see some photos below) for a lovely evening of cocktails and a delicious dinner with my husband and spent the day relaxing with my book in the sun and had a lovely long country walk with my poodles.

This month I have mostly been busy with my much loved bridal work as September is always a super busy month for me... six weddings this month and lots of trials and special occasion make up's as well. I have also launched my make-up tea parties this month which I have been very busy working on during August.  I am very excited about this new venture working with my mum to combine afternoon tea with a professional make-up lesson, sounds like heaven to me!
I have also had a few fun shoots recently, one in particular shot in such a beautiful countryside location in Henley with its own private railway, it really was amazing see a few of my images below.
